DGSA Annual Student Program: Advancing the Craft of Filmmaking

The Directors Guild of South Africa (DGSA) invites aspiring filmmakers, post-graduate students, and mid-level practitioners to participate in the Annual Student Program, a transformative initiative designed to foster excellence in cinematic storytelling.

 

This program offers:

  • A 20-day Cinematography Course, exploring the art and science of visual storytelling, from lighting and composition to advanced camera techniques, led by seasoned professionals.
  • A 10-day Directing Course, focusing on narrative construction, performance direction, and the leadership skills essential to realizing creative visions.
    These intensive, tuition-free courses are delivered sequentially throughout the year, with two-month breaks in between, providing participants with the time to practice and reflect on their learning.

 

Eligibility

This program is exclusively available to DGSA members, providing access to a supportive network and hands-on practical training from seasoned filmmakers. If you are not currently a member and wish to participate, you can join by signing up for the DGSA Student Membership.
